Quick History

Kennesaw served as the staging area for the Great Locomotive Chase in 1862, a Civil War era military raid. Big Shanty, as the city was originally known, was also the site of the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain.

The museum features the General, the original locomotive used in the Great Locomotive Chase.
