Acworth, GA

Located in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains, Acworth is a city with an estimated population of 28,502. Acworth is located in predominantly Cobb County but sprawls to Bartow, Cherokee and Paulding counties too. Acworth is nicknamed The Lake City for it’s accessibility to Lake Acworth and Allatoona too.

Quick History

Acworth has an interesting history. The city was burned to the ground in 1864 during the Civil War, with only a few houses and a church remaining. Cotton farming led to a recovery for the city. Concerned about flooding as a result of a dam built on the Etowah River, citizens petitioned for a second dam in the 1950s. The second dam resulted in Lake Acworth, which has since become a tourist attraction.
